We achieved a space for silence and solemnity, in order to mourn to the atomic bomb victims and pray for everlasting peace.  Most of the building volume was placed in the basement.  The basin was placed on the ground, because most of the victims longed for water on August 9 1945, the day of the atomic bomb exploded in Nagasaki.  Under the basin, 70,000 lights, the same number of the victims, was burned at night.  Visitors approach around the basin to the remembrance hall, library and information centre on the basement.
